September always feels like a fresh start. In my family, it’s when we swap lazy Balaton days for the sharper pace of city life. This year brings something new: HOW TO HUNGARY @ KLUSTER. From mid-September, KLUSTER – a collaborative team house in the heart of Budapest – becomes our new home for a monthly live series. And we’re kicking it off with the hottest topic of the year: Residency & Immigration 2025: The Rules, the Risks, the Realities.
I couldn’t be happier about this move not only because it gives me the perfect stage for sharing the practical, straight-talking guidance that HOW TO HUNGARY is built on, but because it’s a space I want others to discover and enjoy too. My hope is that people who come for the events will also see what a special community KLUSTER is, and maybe even find their own corner here.
Why HOW TO HUNGARY @ KLUSTER?
KLUSTER isn’t just another co-working space. It’s a genuine community where entrepreneurs and professionals share more than desks. It’s about connections, collaborations, and practical support. That makes it the perfect venue for a series like this – not just information, but conversations that spark confidence and help people move forward.
I’ve built HOW TO HUNGARY to be straight-talking, unsponsored, and grounded in lived experience. The KLUSTER series adds a new dimension: you don’t just read about Hungary’s shifting rules, you sit in the room with people who know, ask your own questions, and leave with clarity.
This Year’s Realities
If you’ve tried to renew or apply for a permit this year, you’ll know how much has changed. The “Other Purpose” permit is gone. Stricter categories, nationality-based restrictions, and new hurdles like the cultural history test are leaving many people confused and in some cases, stranded.
In our first event, I’ll set the stage with what’s happening right now: the categories that remain, the traps people fall into, and the bureaucratic watch-outs that can derail even the most organised applicant. Then I’ll hand the mic to Dr. Dávid Dénes of Dénes Legal – an immigration lawyer who spends every day navigating these new rules with clients. He’ll share what’s actually working in 2025, and the pitfalls to avoid.
This isn’t theory. It’s real cases, real risks, and strategies you won’t hear on Facebook.

Dr. Dávid Dénes, immigration lawyer at Dénes Legal, joins Anikó for the first HOW TO HUNGARY @ KLUSTER event on 17 September.
What You’ll Take Away
I’m not going to spoil the details of our talk here – that’s why you buy a ticket. But here’s what you can expect to walk out with:
- Clarity on the current residency categories, and which paths are still open.
- Practical insight into the documents and proofs that matter most.
- Realistic strategies for renewals, conversions, and avoiding dead ends.
- Community connection with others who are facing the same bureaucracy battles.

See You at KLUSTER
For me, HOW TO HUNGARY @ KLUSTER is about more than paperwork. It’s about creating a space where we can ask tough questions, share what’s really happening, and walk out a little less daunted by Hungary’s bureaucracy.
This first session is the launchpad. If residency and immigration are on your mind this year – and for many of us, they are – don’t wait. Book your ticket, join us on 17 September, and be part of the start of something new.
And of course, if you want the full guide in your pocket, you’ll find it in HOW TO HUNGARY: Budapest & Beyond.
For me, this series is about more than paperwork. It’s about connection – bringing people together, building confidence, and helping us all get the most out of life in Hungary.

She’s the creator of HOW TO HUNGARY: Budapest & Beyond. Since moving to Hungary in 2017, she’s been deep in the paperwork trenches – fact-checking, interviewing experts, and helping others make sense of the madness. Her writing turns chaos into clarity, with a few laughs (and wine recommendations) along the way.
