Hungary is heading into a three-day internet and TV outage across dozens of towns, villages, and even parts of Budapest itself. If you were planning to spend next week binge-watching Netflix, working from home, or finally emailing that long-forgotten client—think again.
And no, you didn’t miss a giant government announcement. It’s been rather quietly posted on Hungarian sites like Hitel Fórum—but almost nothing in English yet. So here’s the English-speaking breakdown, from someone who’s been caught without internet here before (hint: it’s not fun).
Note: The outage list is based on the latest info available — but not every address may be affected and additional ones may be, and outages might not last the full eight hours everywhere. Best to check with your provider too, just to be safe!

Why Is This Happening?
Hungary internet outage 2025 is part of planned maintenance by major ISPs like Telekom and Vodafone to “improve network reliability.” Which is code for:
“We found a few wires from 1997 that need replacing, and it’s going to hurt a little.”
Don’t expect your mobile data to save you either: towers in affected zones may be strained or temporarily slow as thousands try to switch over.
Hungarian Sources confirming the maintenance include:

Coming soon to a living room near you: absolutely nothing. 📺🚫

How to Survive the Outages
-
Download everything you need: Presentations, series, recipes for desperate snack-making.
-
Set an email auto-reply: A quick “Sorry, I’m offline today due to regional maintenance” will do.
-
Use mobile data sparingly: And don’t expect lightning speed.
-
Actually enjoy it?: Imagine it—no emails, no calls, no doom-scrolling. A tiny forced holiday. Wine helps.
